A House Divided

As it is written, a divided house can not stand. The house the Republicans were trying to build have been in disarray for a few years. Their minds are so diversely divided that they can not do anything that will make all of them agree on anything. Then there is the cult leader that they are afraid to distance themselves from.

               As I write this, McCarthy have gone through thirteen votes (history made here), and he still have not been elected as House of Representatives Speaker of the House. He loves Trump and it seems he is guided by him, and he does not want to do anything that will meet Trump’s disapproval. Trump endorsed many Republicans that ran for office and most of them lost that election, is this why McCarthy is having problems winning enough votes to get elected? It is too late to move away from Trump now because everyone knows who is at his side.

               I am not a politician, and I am not a political expert, but I am a person that try to use a little common sense to attempt to figure things out. I am independent, I vote for whomever I believe will do the best job although I am not of the Independent Party. Through the last few years all I have heard from Republicans in Congress is to give angst to the Democrats at all costs. They don’t seem to have any ideas of their own except to say what should be done, never how and never present a bill nor compromise with a Democrat on a bill of substance.

               Recently, Republicans have been elected that are not a part of the cult and want to get the party moving in way that will hopefully accomplish something of meaning. They don’t seem to want to stay on their own side but seem to want to reach across the aisle and accomplish something. They just don’t want to banish Democrats, or undo what Democrats have done for the country, nor sit idle and let the nation be shunned by the rest of the world, they want to make a difference.

               However, with the Republican House being in, I believe, three parts mean each and every thing they try to do will mean chaos. Then there are the Democrats to deal with if the Republicans decide not to reach across the aisle or compromise. If the Republicans do not do what they did the last time they had the majority, which were to present bills of contention, they should be okay.

               They must remember one thing, they were elected by the people and are paid to do the people’s work. Instead of doing their own thing or doing what the cult leader wants, remember what they are there for. Now all they must do is to get their house together instead of it being divided. Then and only then maybe they can accomplish something. Until the division is gotten rid of, there is no chance that any great thing will be accomplished.

               So, the bottom line is, bring the party together. Do not govern by contention. Compromise. Remember the people that elected you. You are not in a cult, therefore, rid yourselves of the cult leader. And lastly, the world is watching.

Insular Cases

Maybe I am wrong, maybe I am right, but here is the situation. The Supreme Court have decided not to take the case of giving 3.6 million people of the U. S. Possessions equal rights. I say the court is wrong in not taking the case. I think it is wrong that those people do not have equal rights in the first place. It is not about law (although the lawmakers and court are not reading the law the way I am), it is about morality.

               This is the situation. American Samoa, Guam, Northern Marianas Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are U.S. territories. These possessions have U.S. passports, pay taxes, and, as U.S. possessions, it is considered U.S. soil. So, the way I see it, if the properties are American soil anyone born on that soil is automatically a U.S. citizen and have all the rights and privileges as a citizen.

               The problem, the reason there are lawsuits, and it has gone all the way to the Supreme Court, is the people can not vote. My question is, why not? All citizens are supposed to be afforded the right to vote, or am I wrong about that. They are calling it ‘Insular Cases’.

               I will quote what I read in a Yahoo news article: ‘Insular Cases that deny people like Fitisemanu equal rights as citizens were explicitly founded on racist premises. The cases, which occurred from 1901 to 1922, claimed that the people of the oversees territories the U.S. conquered in the Spanish-American War came from “savage tribes” and “alien” and “uncivilized races” who were “absolutely unfit to receive” the rights provided by the Constitution. The court invented a new legal class of “unincorporated territory” for the colonial possessions taken from Spain that denied them equal rights and statehood.’

               These people also serve in the armed forces, go to schools in the 50 states, work in the 50 states, can live in any state and must abide the American laws. But it seems as though the courts still want to hold on to the racist laws from more than a century ago. Yet we as Americans choose to tell other nations how they should conduct themselves when we are the ones that need to change. These racist stereotypes not only hurt the island possessions but many Black, Brown, etc. here on mainland USA.

               As I read the article, all I thought about is how many island people I have met, and I thought they had all the rights I have. My original thoughts about our laws, which I have harbored in my mind since childhood, have not changed. A lot of these laws can be changed but most keep hitting roadblocks put up by the Republicans. The Republicans loaded the Supreme Court and now they control what goes on there. I do not foresee anything that make sense or is moral coming out of the Supreme Court.

               The people of these islands will never see justice as long as the court is the way it is and as long as the Congress have those roadblocks. Call them American Nationals or whatever you want, it still is not right. Let us not call it Insular Cases, call it what it is. Racist.

What About Abortion

There is one schism in the abortion issue. Is it the right of men to dictate to women on what to do with their body? Then it can be asked, is it the right of a woman to demand that another woman do or not do something to their body? Does a woman have the freedom to say what they wish to be done to their body or must they concede to what another wish? These are the questions to be asked. These are the demands a law be passed to secure those wishes be legal with a penalty for it not being done. I have been through this and, at the time, asked myself those questions. Back in the eighties, when my unmarried daughter got pregnant (she was seventeen at the time), we sat down and discussed the situation. We talked about the pros and cons but, in my mind, the final decision was hers. She decided to have the child and that was that. Her body, her decision.

               Now we are on the cusp of the overturning of Roe v Wade. Older White men want to decide what a woman legally is to do with her body whether she agree or do not agree. There are women that are fearlessly saying they want a law to stop abortions. All of these people are saying it is killing a child, a human. They are saying it does not matter if it is rape, incest, medical or whatever, it should not be done. They want the doctors and aides jailed and fined. They want a person that aided the person by telling them of a way to have the procedure done and the person that provided the transportation to have the procedure done be jailed and/or fined. There is even a bounty in several states for the information about the culprits.

               There is not a law telling men not to procreate. Some men, after they impregnate a woman, get lost and is never seen again. Some continue to procreate time and time again although they can not afford to do so. Some men say a man must impregnate a woman to say he is a man. Is this what the assembly of men and women that make the laws or the men and women that adjudicate the laws are saying?

               We knew this was coming when the Republican party stacked the judicial system with mostly unqualified (at least suspect) MEN and hinted at what would be happening with Roe v Wade. It should not be a surprise. Now, all we can do is wait for the results from the fruit of the labor from the extreme right. I wonder what would be said and done if there is a law sterilizing men.  It takes two to tango, but the woman is the one that must bear the pain and care for the child. Will the government finally step-up and provide the help that is needed for the care of the child? The right has voted down the needed help time and time again. This is only the beginning because I believe we will be fighting for and against this for many years.

The Elections

Next week is election week. Here in Virginia, the governor’s election is too close to call. I voted early just like thousands of Virginians. As I have said before, I always vote for the better person, in my opinion, no matter which party they belong to. I listen closely to what the candidates are saying, and I look closely at who the person is, what they really stand for and try to guess what they would do if elected to the office.

               For instance, the Republican for Virginia’s governorship is constantly saying one thing while on the speaking stage, but hidden tapes have caught him saying something different. In fact, every Republican have been caught telling lies, constantly, while the Democrats have had verbal fluffs, every now and then, or what they say is either taken out of context or twisted to mean something they did not say. I still look at the person and give the benefit of the doubt before I choose which person I am to vote for.

               I also look at the party the person belongs to and understand what the party is doing or trying to do. Then I want to see if the candidate wants to help change some things in the party or help the party continue what it is doing. It makes a difference because I ask myself if I want to continue with the same old things that is giving me heart burn or do I want change. This is not a game. It is the future, and the future is not for me but for my family that is left when I am gone.

               The one campaign theme that is either scaring or thrilling a lot of people is when the name Trump comes up. Trump lost this state when he was running for re-election but think the man running for governor can change things. That man has said he is running because of Trump, and he admires him. How can a person admire a one term twice impeached President?

               What have my mind in a fog is why many people want this man that is against masks, vaccinations, abortion, messing with things in schools, and correct science (which include global warming). It appears every candidate for office that is Republican are all saying almost the same identical things and have the same identical mindset. They are like puppets and Trump is pulling the strings like a puppet master. I do not think they have a mind of their own.

               One more thing. The Republican candidate have gotten most of his campaign money from a Wisconsin billionaire. I recently wrote a blog entitled ‘Follow the Money’. Here is further proof of that. The Republicans have deep pockets because of the billionaires that is why they do not want wealthy money taxed. The Republicans do not want to tax them because they still want their pockets (personal and party) lined.

               Knowing all of what I have written and more I still say vote for the better person. Like I have said, I voted early. I say to you, remember, the way you vote will not only benefit you but your relations for years and years to come.

I Do Not Understand

I do not understand. I am perplexed that the party (Republican), the party of the people, the party of the free, the party for all still choose Trump. The man for double standards, the man that have an ego problem that is bigger than anyone known to man, the man that lost the election but continue to deny the results. I do not understand how a person can be ridiculed, shunned, and is almost killed by Trumps forces still be on the same wagon as he is and still adore him like a slave that is forced to bow to his master’s will.

               That party have double standards. One for the party, while lying to you or not but mostly lying, and one for everyone else. Example: A White man voted twice in the last election. Once for himself and once for his deceased mother. He was excused because it may have been a mistake. A Black woman was freed from incarceration, thought she was eligible to vote under the new standards and was later told she was wrong. She was charged with voter fraud and jailed.  The Republican party did everything it could to squash everything President Obama tried to do, up to and including stacking the Supreme Court simply because they were in the majority. Now they are the minority and is hollering, thinking the same thing is being done to them while saying it is not fair, they never did that.

               The Biden administration is constantly trying to reach across the aisle and negotiate deals that both sides could live with. The Republican party refuse to meet with the Democrats and negotiate anything. To go even further, a Republican Congresswoman fist bumped President Biden and now the Republicans want her seat in Congress. I did not know it was a thing to not to have anything to do with the other party. I thought the parties were to come together to negotiate the peoples will. Must everyone always have a Sad Sack look on his face when in the presence of the other party like Moscow Mitch McConnell?

               I do not understand how so many people are so cultish for this ex-President, giving him every dime they can spare for him and his family to put into their pockets. How can people love him when almost everything he says and does is a lie? How can the people see and allow the right to vote or more difficult to vote become the standard in many states? I do not understand why they insist on tearing democracy apart and make it a government of old, old man Trump. I will not get into his gestapo forces; he tells them that he loves them.

               Lastly, I do not understand how a person want to run for President and refuse to say anything bad about Trump even after Trump had his forces hunt him down to hang him. Even after Trump slandered him and said he despised him because he would not fix the votes to show he won, he still will not say anything bad to him or about him. I do not understand.

Politicians

Many times, I have said, and I still say the politicians are elected to enact the will of the people that elected them. Often the politicians will do as they choose and the people that elected them be damned. They also, most of them, are out for the money that can be gotten from the campaign funds or from direct support. I cannot count the number of politicians that have gone to Congress with extraordinarily little money in their pockets and within a couple of years they are millionaires or almost millionaires.

               I am middle class; I am not broke but I am not close to being rich. I get by and, through charitable donations, attempt to help others. There are many people (families) that is having a hard time making ends meet and if I have a little leftover I try to help in some way. I see millionaires/politicians that have a life of plenty, more than they and their family need but they refuse to pass bills to help the downtrodden. Do not get me wrong, there are politicians that are trying to do their best to help.            

               However, I remember a couple of years ago those politicians (Republican) that were for many things if it would benefit them and their party. They would not reach across the aisle and work with the other side. Now the other side have power and the things that they were for have disappeared. They still do not want to work together or discuss any topic yet trying to hoodwink the people into believing they are reaching across the aisle and they are trying to help them.

               Many things they were for now they are suddenly against saying something have changed when there is no change. Bills that are attempting to help people in need they are against and, I believe, it is because the politicians across the aisle introduced them and are for them. Even when the great majority of people want the bills, they still turn their backs and are against them. Yet, they were elected to do the people’s bidding.

               Then look at them continuously asking for money so they can try for reelection and they can siphon off money for themselves (there are a couple or more investigations for this). These politicians are afraid of their king and not their voters. They want their king to return, voters be damned, and for their voters to send money to them and to their king.

               So, I say to you to not believe your politician and to closely look at what they do. They are masters of disguise and know all sorts of trickery. When your pockets are empty and you need a place to stay and food for your belly, do not call your politician because he will only help himself and only show sympathy. Remember, you voted for that person and there is no turning back. If you cannot open your eyes and see the snake your politicians have become, then you cannot cry about the way you are treated by them.

He Wants Your Money

Not too long ago I wrote a piece about following the money and had a positive response. If you followed the news I was right as have others in the past. The saying about following the money have been said for many, many years. This time it seems like Trump have changed the tune to ‘send me your money’. He is talking to his PAC and other cult members that are fool enough to think the money will be shared with the Republican party.

               I have an exceedingly rare statement to make. I agree with Trump. I know some people are shocked at this but give me a chance to explain. Trump wants the Republican donations sent directly to him because the party is using his name and image to raise money. If the Republicans do not want the money to go to him, the party should not use him to raise funds.

               Here is the fly in the soup. Trump will use the money on the lawsuits, fines, attorneys, appeals, and his pocket for his businesses that are in deep trouble. It is said he is not broke (I do not know) but he does not want to use his own money for anything. He wants to use yours if you send it to him because the Republican party will use it equally among party politicians.

               Trump has a history of getting the money and wanting more. He does not care who he steps on, push out of the way, or lie to. Just give him the money, be very loyal to him and you will be smiled upon. Do not give him the money, disagree with him and you are forever ostracized. Money and power are everything. No one and nothing else matters.

               The Republican party is now two parties. One party that is trying to continue as a political party that does not include Trump and is trying to boost all party members. The Trump party (which have the acronym SAP (does it mean you are a sap)) is a party with Trump at the head with Trump getting the lion’s share of the funds and all other members getting what is left over, if anything.

               Everything to do with anything have a tinge of money on it. That is where Trump have his many problems. Not the political ones but the personal, civil ones. I will give an example. The people that have property and money is like a multitiered cake. First there is acquiring the property. Then there is maintaining the property. Next, and not necessarily in order, is staffing the property. Depending on the nature of operation of the property there are many companies that does work and supply things. The bottom line is lots of money to put out to make money, if possible. If you send Trump money, he does not use his money to maintain the property and he will not use his money to attempt to quash the lawsuits to keep the property. He wants your money and lots of it to do it.

               You say you are poor and do not have money to help him. That puts you on his wrong side. Okay, you send him money, but you still cannot set foot on any of his properties. I say, if you want to send money send it to the GOP not him.

Together We Stand

Many times, I have heard the words ‘together we stand, divided we fall’. Those words are truer than most people think. In any combat situation it takes all members of the operation to come together as a unit to survive. If a member decides to go it alone the entire unit is in jeopardy of dying. With the unit fighting as one, there is a good chance that the unit will survive.

               There are two major situations before the citizens of the United States, and both need our immediate attention. COVID-19 and The President of the United States. There are people that do all the precautions, up to and including wearing masks to prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19. The other is the present man in the White House inciting the siege on the U.S. Capitol. In fact, both concerns greatly involve the President.

               The President have told everyone that listens to him that the virus is a hoax, bleach and other things would clean the body and cure the virus, stimmed information on what is happening and what to do about the virus, not to wear masks because he was not going to wear a mask, and many other untruths about the virus. Those people that reported the truth or leaked truthful information were fired. This was from our President and the Republican party, his underlings, and his followers did as they were told and did not try to stop nor correct him. Everything that is happening is on them as much as it is on him.

               Sedition and conspiracy against the United States of America is the worst thing I have ever seen and heard in my lifetime, except in third world countries. I saw and heard the President tell his base, that were present for his speech, to go to the Capitol. He knew what they were going to do, and he encouraged them to do it. They had inside help, I am sure. The Capitol was lightly manned with protection and the warnings that was conveyed was disregarded. While grocery shopping, I heard two men talking, not loudly but slightly louder than normal. They were talking about a civil war and how the election was stolen, etc. I did not confront them, my wife and I got what we were in the area for and walked on. I noticed others looking at them and they also walked on.

               Our country is divided and if that seam of contention is not sewn together, we will fall. It reminds me of the book ‘The Fall of the Roman Empire’. Looking back at history and, in most cases history can and will repeat itself, I find that the downfall of the nations is done through division. Like in a combat situation, divide and conquer. Because the President can not be a dictator or supreme ruler, he wants to take the nation down and his followers can not see this nor do they have sense enough to care. His followers, especially those in government (Congress, staffers, etc.) should be investigated, fined, and jailed as soon as possible.

Got To Find A Home

As of January twentieth, twenty twenty-one, where will ex-President Trump live? Is he welcomed in Florida at his club? The governor of New York and the mayor of New York City told him he is not welcomed there. Where will he live? Will there be a Trump Library like other ex-Presidents? As the old folks say, I guess I am a part of them now, ‘you made your bed so lie in it’. He has ostracized so many governors and mayors that they do not want him.

               The people that control the property at Mar-A-Lago have filed papers to not allow Trump to reside there. In 1998 Trump signed papers making staying at the club more than a week illegal because he wanted a tax write-off by making the residence a club. In the signed papers it is written that a person can not stay longer than a week and no more than three times a year. He has stayed there more than that.

               He told New York that he did not want to stay there because they were after him for his tax paperwork and more. This includes his kids and their families. There are still numerous lawsuits in play and is waiting for him to be out of office. Well, Florida and New York are out. California is out also because he told them they were not doing things right to control the fires. He wanted them to rake and sweep the forests to prevent the fires. California disagreed therefore he withheld funds to help them in their time of need (that was one reason but there is more).

               Maybe his supporters will let him live with one of them. They love him and will do anything he say, up to and including anything that is violent. Maybe by him living with them they will not worry about losing their job because of the pandemic and will be able to keep a roof over their heads. Maybe he can give them a little money to keep on keeping on. Nope, I must be delusional to think he would give someone money. He would want money from them.

               I guess going overseas is out also because he has alienated all our allies. I can not expect any country taking him in and that includes Russia. Why not Russia? He has outlived his usefulness to Putin and the Russian people. And, thinking about allies, Moscow Mitch, oops, Mitch McConnell may want to take Trump and his family in, but Mitch just accepted President-elect Biden. Personally, I would not trust nor believe McConnell for any reason. And, thinking about calling people names other than their own, it is ironic that Republicans are raising hell that a Democratic aide used a bad word toward them. That is something I have heard from the Republicans, especially the President, for over four years and the Republicans are silent about it.

               I know where Trump will get free living quarters…when the civil lawsuits are finalized and the courts have their say he will have his own private cell, members of his family as well as other people in his administration. Trump will make history again. He will be the first President that will be homeless and the first President that is taken from homelessness straight to jail. There are many crimes he has committed, and they are both federal and civil. He can, technically, escape the federal crimes but he can be and will be held accountable for the civil crimes.

               As the old song about the bole weevil stated ‘ got to find a home’. This President, soon to be ex-President, need a home before he is given a home behind bars that is paid for by the people he has scammed daily. It will be interesting to watch what happens as it occurs. It is reported he has said he will not vacate the White House. This way he will have a home sooner than he think. JAIL!

Temper Tantrum

How many times have you witnessed a child throwing a temper tantrum? Almost impossible to abate, is it not? As I see it the same thing is happening with Trump. He cannot have his way, so he is in a destroying mood. He has had his way from the day he was born and, as an old man, he cannot change now. For the short time he has left in office he wants to and can do much damage and make things exceedingly difficult if not impossible for the elected administration to correct.

               My main fear is he may intentionally or inadvertently start a war (something he twice wanted to do a short while ago). He and his enablers, including the Senate and the Republican party, are trying everything in their power to disrupt, not only the smooth transfer of power, but anything the Democratic administration need to get done. They not only will not certify the new cabinet, allow incoming briefings, nor have office space. They were not treated this way nor have anyone been treated this way.

               Then there are the frivolous lawsuits concerning the election, the ballots, the ballot counting, and the result. So far only one out of fifteen lawsuits have been won and that was a tiny win that did not amount to anything. Then there is the South Carolina Senator poking his nose in the Georgia election. If he lived in Georgia that would be okay, but he lives in another state.

               I can not leave out the Senate majority leader that have publicly said he will block everything the incoming administration tries to do no matter what it is. He did this to the Obama administration and now he wants to do it again. He has many bills sitting on his desk that he will not allow action to be taken and one of them is the stimulus bill. It seems he want to pack the courts with as many Republican federal judges as he can, therefore, each day, on the Senate floor there is only voting on certifying judges.

               Mixed in this is the temper tantrum man playing golf instead of trying to get this pandemic under control. All that I hear from him is the untrue accusation that the election was rigged, and he won the election. He knows he lost but, like a child throwing a tantrum, he can not accept this and want it his way. Putting him into time our will not work because his mental state could not handle it. Therefore, he pouts, sit, and do nothing. He will not do his job. He is still saying things to get his enablers to act. When his enablers are stopped, he has another tantrum. He has his agenda, and it is not to help us. His agenda is to help him and only him.

               Being an ex-president will expose him to many lawsuits because he will then be a private citizen. When the lawsuits are levied the temper tantrums will increase beyond what we have seen. During the tantrum, he will do anything and everything. The child is still kicking and screaming. He will not stop.
