Our Government Is In Shatters

I am a news addict. A little local news. A lot of national and world news. I know we should keep a close eye on our President and his associates, but I am tired of the shenanigans that seems to be their only bane. Every day there is something new that they are trying to do. Mostly it is something that they have tried before, but the court system throws it out. Then they will attempt to do it anyway, but in a slightly different way. This is getting to be very old and frustrating. When you look deeply into their past, family ties included, there is much more to be found, of which they brush off as normal or say there is nothing wrong with such actions.

I have written, in www.faithingodministries.net, about the children. How tainted thinking and actions can become a part of the gene pool. At the time, I did not think about the other members of the Trump family but reading about the sister, a federal judge being investigated, who immediately retired upon hearing about her being investigated, bought me back to my other blog. It seems that the entire family is tainted. How can this gene pool be like this? It’s in every family. It’s learned from a very early age. All animals learn this way, not only humans. They follow examples of other animals of their species. That is the only way they learn to act and survive. President Trump learned how to scheme and get away with all sorts of things, being taught by his father. All the children were taught this way, and, as it is always said, what is done in the dark will come into the light. It took a long time for the light to shine, but it is now shinning.

We, as a people, have a choice to make. Let things that we know is destructive to us to continue or put our foot down and attempt to get out of this mess. We can either put our head in a hole in the sand and say this will pass or deny this destruction of our democracy to continue. He can not do this if we stand firm and let him know that it is not okay.

He had two years of complete untethered domination when his party was in complete control. He could not deliver. What is the excuse now? Members of his party seems to be afraid and will not do what is right for the people although they were elected by the people to work for the people. They seem to work only for themselves and the President (the three branches of government be damned) and does not care for the people or why the Constitution was created nor what is in the Constitution. These Congress members say one thing to get elected but does something different when they get into office.

Most people say I am a democrat (because they think Black people are usually Democrats) but                            I say I am not for any party. I have voted for whom I think is the best choice and not for any party. The new members of Congress have a long hill to climb and they must fend off many adversaries along the way. Some are good people, some are so-so. I am happy to see they all want a better government than we have now. If they succeed, we have a long-time rebuilding. Our government is in shatters.

Go Straight To Jail

The normal individual would expect the court, whether federal or civil, to send a person straight to jail upon being found guilty of a crime. I have been in the federal court system as well as all the others. I have seen people released after a ‘not guilty’ verdict. I have seen others, upon being found guilty, being led out of court, being taken straight to jail.

There seem to be a pattern of influential people, or people that had power, getting slapped on the wrist, a sentence of a few days to a few months or very few years in jail. The light sentence can even be spent in the city jail or in a federal minimum custody prison. Then there is, as it is now with our government, months of freedom before reporting to jail. I know for sure that I couldn’t get anything close to any deal like that.

I have said many times, most of the time I am making a joke, the richer you are or the higher you are on the so-called food chain, the more likely there is not any jail time. Most of the time the crime will never go to court. Court is for the common person. A lot of jail time is for the common person. Going hand-in-hand is jail overcrowding.

In the penal system there are areas in the prison or jail that they call ‘private use’. This is where, I assume, prisoners with influence are held, not only for their protection, but because they are who they are. Just like I am who I am. I also do not think they would do well in ‘general population’. However, if I were to go to prison, I would not be considered for any special consideration.

Just about everyone in the present government administration have some type of criminal history attached to them, including the President. I can’t begin to name all the individuals involved nor the number of charges that is or could be against them. The President have many things against him at the federal and state level. If any case become a guilty verdict in court, their sentence will be delayed, time given to arrange their affairs before any jail time, then the minimum sentence that can be given.

If any ordinary person, accused of a crime, get indicted by a grand jury, being poor or by not having an influential status, will wait in jail until the grand jury speaks and await in jail until the trial (maybe they can make bail). When the verdict is given, the ordinary person will not be given time to arrange their affairs and go straight to jail. The President, concerning federal charges, probably will be pardoned. We will have to see what will happen with the state charges because he cannot be pardoned for those except by the governor of that state.

It would be wonderful for the rich and influential people get treated as does the normal people. That may be asking too much.

What’s on My Mind

I am tired, very tired of this political mess that none of us are able to rid ourselves of. This three-ring circus would have never happened in the days of yore, which, by the way, was not too long ago. All of this not coming together and play fair have me wondering why we have an election at all (remember, our present President did not win the popular vote). We elect people to do our bidding and all they are willing to do is their own biddings. All of this will come to an end, with our government in taters and all I can see now is a fallen government. It’s like we are in a third world country.

Why I am talking about this is because of the misfiring of the intelligence committee. When the GOP had the majority for two years and had a show of questioning people, it came to sham questioning. I said ‘show’ because they (GOP) really didn’t want to find anything incriminating against anyone. It was all a show, and, at the same time, they tried to make the other side look like they were over zealous wanting what they wanted. I knew then that something was wrong and wondered why the constituents weren’t hollering bloody murder.

Now, the democrats are in power and have the leadership of the intelligence committee. They want to send transcripts to the Special Prosecutor. Seems reasonable to me but the GOP will not appoint people to the committee so that the committee can not send any transcripts to the Special Prosecutor. What in the ‘Sam Hill’ is going on? Is this any way for government to act? What is it that the GOP don’t want known? Are they protecting someone that they are afraid is going to be indicted if the documents are released?

I look back at what the GOP have done while being a ‘stooge’ for the President when there are three branches of government and they are one of the three. They rammed (confirmed) people through the committees that had no business in front of the committee in the first place, let alone being confirmed anyway. They are a shame to the world and most of them I would never vote for nor recommend for a vote, ever. I am ashamed to be a part of a country that act the way our government does. Yes, we are laughed at all over the world. It used to be that only other countries acted this way. We now have joined them, may have gotten a little lower.

I guess to really be like a third world country we must have a dictator. Oops, our President want to act like a dictator, and he have his party letting him say and do what he wants. I guess now, to be a true dictator, our military must roam the streets and shoot anyone that disagree with the dictator. The dictator must have secret assassins. Come shoot me, assassinate me because I don’t care if the world knows I don’t like our sham dictator. I would love to see the dictator and all his family and associates rot in jail. I would love to get my country back. I will have a drink, smoke a cigar and smile when that day come. What a day that will be. And, all the people that can not see all the ‘BS’ that the GOP is spreading all around should be jailed with the rest of the scum.

Kiddie Korner

In this week’s blog there will be metaphors for a few things that is happening in politics. Some will agree with me and some will disagree, so be it. For a long time there have been a phrase uttered about the people in the White House (children’s zoo) that, if you metaphorically look at it, it is, some would say funny and, some would say true. Maybe it’s both, I have my own opinion about the entire thing. The way I will put this, it’ all like children playing or acting out.

The Speaker of The House told the President of The United States that he could not give the State of The Union address because of security concerns. Because of the government shut-down the usual security is too thin and what is left cannot protect all the important members of every branch of government that will all be in one place. The response is the Speaker of The House and her delegation cannot use a government plane for a trip. That is like two kids playing marbles and one kid gets mad and take the marbles and go home. Then, to get even, say ‘I’m gonna tell on you’. The President spilled the classified travel details before anyone could take another plane.

Then there is “whack-a-mole”. No one have contact with the special prosecutor. No one either speak with him, know where he is or where he is going or what he is going to do. The media and the administration are so used to knowing everything about everyone, to be able to whack them down if they seem to get to high, that the prosecutor perplexes them. They keep trying to out think him and his team just to find out they are wrong.

Then there is the game I played when I was in school. The teacher would whisper something in the first student’s ear. By the time it gets to the last student, what the teacher whispered is completely different. That is similar to what the President and his lawyer is doing, or it seems so. Something would be released to the media and almost immediately the President, his lawyer, and his administration will put their spin on it. How can such rubbish be believed when there is proof to the contrary?

Have you ever asked your child if they have completed a task and later see them hurrying to complete it before you find out they didn’t? The President just made an appearance at a combat zone base because there has been criticism for not doing it. Some military people have done three or more tours in combat zones with the Commander in Chief making one in two years (bone spurs?).

There is more, however, but I will leave it here, I don’t want to madden people more than they are already. I know I anger people because I speak badly about the President and the no experience administration, but I don’t care because everyone has their own opinion, and this is mine. And, I wrote no experience administration because most people hired by the President are hired because they agree with him not because they are experts, they are not.

Anyway, have fun in the ‘kiddie korner’ and keep your fingers crossed that things will eventually straighten itself out and get back to an even keel. Any writing suggestions, contact me. Don’t forget to read my other blog at www.faithingodministries.net and pass it and this on. I need many more viewers to continue writing the blogs, they cost too much for the number of readers that I have.

Young People And Education

As usual, my wife and I went on another trip (casino/horseracing), this time to Hollywood Casino in Charlestown, West Virginia. We drove from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Imperial Plaza Senior Living in Richmond, Virginia. I ate breakfast with some old friends, went around the place greeting other old friends. We boarded a bus with the group that was going to the casino and had a pleasant trip. We stayed overnight because horseracing is always in the evening, and that was a lot of fun. We returned before the rain hit and got a hotel room in Richmond.

That same evening, we had a birthday celebration at Outback and had a good time being with a daughter, her husband and three daughters. The food and shenanigans were good which made me really miss seeing them as often as we used to. After saying our goodbyes, we went back to the hotel and I started reading messages on my pad.

The more I read the various messages, the more my mind kept straying to the English language structure and what I was reading. It seems that young people think it is so hip, cool or in fashion to misspell and/or butcher the English language. It is now natural to write in a bad way or to shorten a sentence or word. It is funny to them to write in such a way as it makes a normal person (senior citizen) cringe.

I know cursive writing is not taught in school these days. I’ve been retired from employment for a while and I wonder what employers think about this or are they making amends? I also wonder about banking; are banks making amends? What about misspelled words in the work place (ex: ‘your’ instead of you’re’)? In government as a whole? I remember, when I was in school, a child was graded on penmanship. Not anymore, I guess.

Today, young people write as if they are texting and must minimize the number of letters that are used in a message. Then, after all is said and done, it is a habit as well as ‘cute’, make them stand out among their peers. A few young people have tried to quantify the usage of such writing and have even suggested I should do it because it the way it is done now. I can not see myself putting a ‘z’ in place of ‘s’ or writing shorthand for words.

My own personal thoughts; the USA educational system is going to hell in a handbasket. I have asked college students common, easy questions and can not get an answer because they do not know. They have no idea what I am talking about. Something I knew in high school years ago. I have talked to high schoolers about things I knew in elementary school, they had no idea what I was talking about.

We, as Americans, supposed to have or want to have the best education system among all nations yet we are under-educating our children and putting up with the bad habits that they show. Why? What is the reasoning? Some say that they must try things on their own and become adults. They can not become adults and know right from wrong if they are never taught the right way and the continuous bad way is tolerated. We as older adults and the teachers and the educational system are doing our kids, our future, an injustice. Many other nations are not surpassing our system, they have surpassed our system. Our young people have been dummied down and will stay that way because I do not see any plans to change this.

Retirement vs Politics

Coco Cay, Bahamas

My blog is suppose to be about retirement/seniors but it is mostly political simply because of the toxic atmosphere caused by the present political personnel. However, do not take the political atmospheric conditions as meaning it does not have anything to do with retirees or their tranquil lives. The retiree’s life is anything but tranquil knowing the storms from hell are approaching (new laws or discontinued laws) and hidden dangers are everywhere. Us retirees are being cloaked from the true facts of the turmoil that is before us. There is an attempt to shield us from hearing facts, truths and seeing the cause and effect of political actions and utterances.

Because of these actions (a lot of inaction) we have been hoodwinked into believing that we are better than before and will be even better yet. Don’t be fooled, like the slight of hand, what you see is not really what you see. Some of the endeavors of our present government have come to fruition and the most of it does not look good. I will only list a tiny amount of things that have happened which have an affect on us seniors/retirees.

First, patient dumping. Employees were video recorded wheeling a patient wearing a hospital gown, socks and nothing else, to a bus stop in front of a hospital on a cold, windy night. They left the poor woman there. Don’t ask why. This have been going on for a while but people now believe it is okay because of the new administration. Another is the fact we have heads of agencies that are not qualified or have a conflict of interest because they are either against the agency they head or have had opposing dealings before. One fact in point, a woman heads an agency but now is backing a company to do contract work which have a direct money deal with her. Our tax money at work, straight to her pocket. The rich get richer and us poor people get poorer. One last point is how we teach our children, grandchildren about the brashness of using vulgar language. How to respect other people, no matter where they are from or who they are. Not so for our President. He teach the usage of vulgar language and racist disrespect. So goes the President, so goes the USA. Don’t listen to grandpa or grandma, the President will show you and tell you the way to do it.

I am only saying one thing. Just because you are older now and think politics is a piece of the past, a thing you used to dabble in, think again. When your grand-kids tell you to ****. The President did it first. When you go to the hospital and your co-pay is more than you can afford and you get put out into the cold, the President said it is okay. When your roads and bridges or whatever is in disrepair but your tax bill keep getting higher, remember the President put that incompetent person in charge.

Politics is something we all should have a say about and keep saying it loudly. Because you are retired does not mean you give up on your rights or give up on life.

Lastly, I recently attended a commemoration of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. There were many non-residents in attendance in the Imperial Plaza’s auditorium which contrasted the poor turn out of the Imperial Plaza’s residents. There is a large Black community among the four buildings but, as usual, there was a very poor turnout of Black people for the program. The Black Mayor (Richmond) and Black Police Chief (Richmond) was in attendance and spoke to many people. Many Army personnel from Fort Lee were there and that reminded me that many people don’t realize a Black History fact. Afro-Americans have participated in every war and/or conflict there ever was in and for the USA including The Revolutionary War and both sides of The Civil War.

I have been getting a lot of hits and followers on this blog but, in case you don’t know, I have another blog at www.faithingodministries.net Hope you will also read and enjoy that blog. Let me know.

I Am Retired

For the moment I will get back to talking about Imperial Plaza, not all of the happenings but as much as I dare for now. Since I have been here and have written about this place, I have found it quite intriguing, to say the least. Imperial Plaza have gone uphill, downhill and now uphill again. I was involved in some of it by being on committees but there have been some people that were quite radical about what they perceived as needing to be accomplished and how it should be accomplished. There is one or more that gives the perception of “my way or the highway”. There are others that will go so far as to jump the chain of command and go straight to the top.

In everything, like the government, there are parts of a problem that is not seen by the average person. In other words, the whole picture is not seen, therefore, the problem can not be solved as it is seen because one must first see the whole picture (the big circle…). There is always another element to look at unless you are at the top and definitely know the whole picture. Then, alas, there may be an element of that picture that is hiding something, for whatever reason, which makes the picture cloudy and a commendable resolution difficult if not impossible.

There are a few people at Imperial Plaza that come from a world where they are the boss and are used to people complying to their every whim but now they are into a world of retirement. They still have the mindset that when they say something, everyone must jump to do whatever it is without question. They also have it in their heads that they know the best way to do things only if they can get people to get on with the task they have alluded.

Since the previous head of Imperial Plaza got the boot (some say not), the new person have done a great job getting things moving without too much conflict and discontent. There is still a hic-up here and there but nothing is perfect and never will be. There was a large shift in the dining facility and the food and wait staff got to be pretty bad. With the new head chef and quite a few new wait staff, things are beginning to look up. I hope so because I have stopped eating there.

The one thing that have, on one hand, gotten stagnant and, on the other hand, gotten bad is the entertainment. I know most of the seniors want old music (thirties, forties and so on), but, it is always the same old thing. There are two or three bands that always come here and I can tell you the line up of the music. I know what tune is next, because there is very little deviation from that line up, and usually what comment the lead person will make. There is a very good man playing good music in the White Squirrel but he have been relegated to twice a month, he was playing every week for months. He would fill the place on Tuesday and everyone was eating, drinking and dancing. The new group that replaces him every other Tuesday does not take requests nor do they fill the place. Alas, you can’t fight city hall. It’s the dining facility’s lost and I keep my money in my pocket. I either stay in my apartment to eat and drink or I can go out to eat. My wife and I are mobile and I don’t care what we do for that day. There are always choices and I try to take advantage of them because I am retired and I’m not nailed down to do anything I don’t want to do.

I’ll stop here although there is so much more to talk about but I don’t want to make this too long and boring. I want to continue this at the next writing and go into other parts of what is going on as well as, hopefully, getting into my travels. As I said before, I am retired and I love writing, salt water fishing and traveling. As time permits, I’ll write something else soon. Be kind to your neighbors for you’ll never know when you’ll need them. Also, insure your words are soft and sweet, you’ll never know when you’ll have to eat them. By the way, the photo is one of the jobs I retired from.
